Scoutbook

Troop 179 uses Scoutbook as our advancement tracker. It is the BSA’s online unit management tool and helps Scouts, parents and leaders track advancement and milestone achievements along the Scouting trail. Advancement Guide

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Every Scouting activity moves young people toward the basic aims of: character development, citizenship training, leadership, and mental and physical fitness.

Advancement is one of the methods used by Scout leaders to help youth fulfill the aims of the BSA and the current edition of the Guide to Advancement is the official source for administering advancement in all Boy Scouts of America programs. Any questions about advancement procedures in Troop 179 should be directed to the Scoutmaster, Advancement Coordinator, or Committee Chair.

Merit Badges

Troop 179 is lucky to have 14 adults registered as merit badge counselors. Between them, 62 different merit badges are offered. The list of merit badges and counselors is posted below. Please read the Procedures for Merit Badges found in the Instructions tab.
